Colusa County Jail

The Colusa County Jail is located at 929 Bridge, in the city of Colusa. The jail was constructed in 1962 and occupied in 1963. The jail is normally operated by a staff of 13 including one jail commander, one sergeant, three corporals and eight correctional officers. The jail can house up to 92 inmates. Inmates in the facility may be awaiting trial or serving a sentence. An inmate can serve up to a year in the facility for each felony conviction. Inmates are served three meals per day. The meals are provided through a contract with the local hospital.

VISITING
|
|
Inmates are allowed 2-30 minute visits per week. You must have photo identification in order to visit. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. *Children may NOT be left unattended in lobby or visiting room under any circumstance.

Inmates may receive letters, cards and pictures through the mail. Books and magazines will be accepted only if they are sent from the publisher and/or is a paid subscription. These will not be forwarded upon inmate's release. Polaroid pictures and any other photos larger than 4" x 4", will NOT be accepted. They will be placed in the inmate's personal property. ANY mail containing pornography, gang related activity and or violence will not be accepted. NO packages of any sort will be accepted. Inmates are responsible for their own postage. Stamped envelopes can be purchased on commissary. An inmate who carries a balance of less than one dollar for more than a week will be given 2 postage free letters per week.

MONIES
|
|
Money in the form of cash, cashiers check or money maybe deposited to the inmates account at time of visiting and business hours Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm. Money orders are accepted in the mail and will be deposited in the inmates account when received. Do NOT mail cash or personal check. Any monies remaining in the inmates account will be returned by check when they are released.

PROPERTY
|
NO property will be accepted from the public while incarcerated. Property will not be received over the counter or through the mail for any inmate.
NOTE: Allowances will be considered for medically oriented items only.

TELEPHONE
|
|
Inmates have access to collect call only phones. They DO NOT accept incoming calls. Phones are in operation from 7:30am-10pm. Incoming telephone messages will NOT be taken.
